It's over.

Tomorrow is my final day of school, ever, and it's scaring me more than it should.
I've finally finished year 12, I don't have to put up with all the shitty people and the stress and the early mornings, but I don't want to leave.

This is ridiculous, all of my friends can't wait fot it to end, but I can't imagine not being at school.
Right now I'm supposed to be at my graduation ceremony, but I just don't have the energy to go, and I don't want to anyway.

It's only just hit me that next year I will have nothing to do. I'm on my own now and I have no idea of what I want to do with the rest of my life.

Anyways, 'Thank God You're Here' is pretty much the greatest thing on T.V at the moment, I think I'm going to buy the DVD set.

SuperMegaFashion

Taken from a conversation Amelia and I had at SuperMegaFashion last week:

Amelia: "That guy looks like a cross between Jesse Lacey and John Nolan. Ewwww, they should never have kids."

Me: "Oh dear GOD!"

external awesome carriers

Taken from an MSN conversation with Simon:

Simon: I'm amazed that the awesomeness of us is contained in our bodies
Me: Indeed. I'm surprised that our bodies have not burst
Simon: I'm surprised we have not had to make external awesome carriers
Me: We might have to soon, if we keep going this way
Simon: lol
Me: Seriously
Simon: I can see you and me with taped up balloons to our bodies saying "Oh, that's my external awesome carrier. My awesomeness cannot be contained within my body...It's cool I guess"

Wednesday Night

Wednesday was the greatest day I've had all year.

In our free lesson Amelia, Tegan and I went to every Op Shop around the Brighton area, Amelia and Tegan bought Rollar Blades for $5 each and a couple of tops. I bought a lovely formal dress for $15, it fits me perfectly and looks great, I'll probably end up wearing it to graduation.

Amelia had to be back at school by 5:30 to do a chemistry practical for Open Night, so Tegan and I hung around too on the roller blades. Now, I can hardly balance while walking, so skating was was worse. I fell down twice before I even got into the school grounds, so today my tail bone is really sore and I have blisters on my feet. We talked to a whole bunch of people, and didn't get thrown out of the school grounds. It was brilliant.

By the time Amelia finished her practical it was almost 7. We bought food, talked to Kate then attempted to skate up the hill to get to Amelia's car.

So yes, too much fun. Op shopping is brilliant

Straylight Run concert

So last night was the Matchbook Romance and Straylight Run concert in Adelaide.

This is how my night went.

So the night before Amelia and I made T-shirts, they said 'Straylight Run equals less than three' if you don understand that then here is an abbreviation 'Straylight Run = <3' and if you still don’t understand that then I don't think you deserve to live.

So we arrived at the Uni Bar around 6:30, and met some lovely girls who were only there to see the headlining band, Matchbook Romance. We were let in around 7:30 and Amelia and I went over to the merch booth to see what they were selling, the guy behind it wasn't the nicest person ever and didn't like our shirts. We then went and sat down at a booth for a while, just waiting for something exciting to happen, and it did. Michelle Nolan, after fixing her keyboard walked out to the bar, so we rushed over to meet her.

Honestly she is the nicest person, she is so small and gentle. She didn’t understand our t-shirts so we explained them to her, her reply was "oh, that’s so sweet, thank you". We then talked about me failing maths and how it was weird that I knew the less than sign, Michelle said "I failed maths myself, so that’s ok". A bit more was said, none of which I can remember then she left to go backstage again.

The opening band was The Open Season, nothing new or exciting, lots of bad screaming and worse lyrics, by then we were back in our booth just waiting for Straylight. Finally their set was finished so we moved down onto the floor, and met up with the two girls from before...they kindly gave up their places on the barricade to us for the one band, and OH LORD...I was directly in front of the central microphone stand.

So after a long wait Straylight came on, Michelle smiled at us and took her place at the keyboards. Some things I that went through my head during the first song were:
- Wow, it's a little creepy that John has a sticker of Jesus on his guitar.
- Man, he is so tiny.
- WTF??? I didn't know he was married...where did that ring come from?

So their set was amazing, no one in the crowd was rude to them and there were a couple of other Straylight fans there. During 'Costello'/'It Never Gets Easier' John was looking straight at me...ok and Amelia too...but mostly me.
While getting ready for another song some idiot from the crowd yelled "I love your sister" and oh my, John just smiled and said "I love your sister too, and your mother..." the crowd just laughed and he finished his sentence with "but in a purely platonic way"

Right so... their set eventually finished...I was sad...still had the biggest smile on my face, and then Will came out and walked over to the merch booth, we followed him and talked to him about Church's, rabid Koalas, Australia in general, and John being more popular than him. Will asked about our t-shirts and just as I was about to draw it for him, he said he understood and thanked us. Will was really nice, but not as relaxed as the others. We asked him about their next album, he told us they are going to start recording a full length album during the summer, and that hopefully it doesn't get leaked and ruin it for them.

Then I looked over and John was right next to us, just as we went to talk to him, Michelle came back and started talking to us again, John joined in and he questioned our t-shirts, we drew it out for him and he thanked us for the compliment. Michelle asked if anyone else got it and we told her Will was the only one who understood it, she said it was because he spent most of his time on the computer. Michelle and John also thanked us for coming out and being there for them to look at while they play, saying we were the only ones really rocking out, and that was amazing. They basically said they were playing for us. Woooo. Michelle told me that she loved my hair colour, which was nice of her because it has faded alot since I last dyed it. We also talked to John about Australia, churches, geography, and musical tastes. He was so friendly and kind, and we took photos with him and he seemed genuinely happy to meet and talk to us.

After he left us we stayed for a while and I bought a hoodie, then we left after two Matchbook Romance songs. Walking to the car we met a really nice girl who also only went to see Straylight and had a badge with 'Less Than Three' written on it, which was brilliant.

We had a fantastic night.

I might post pictures sometime this week.
5 days until I get to see Straylight Run at the Uni Bar.
Tegan got her wisdom teeth removed today, and is in pain.
I'm so far behind in my school work.
Everybody should watch this because there is nothing better than John Nolan wearing a bear hat.

x Elyse
